Text Counter

Analyze text statistics

Usage Instructions

🚀 Quick Start

  • Paste or type the text you need to analyze. Spaces and line breaks are supported
  • Statistics update instantly: characters, words, paragraphs, reading/speaking time, and more
  • Switch among the "Word Frequency", "Characters", and "Complexity" tabs to inspect each dimension
  • Copy any statistic, and capture a screenshot if you need to preserve the current view

📌 Common Scenarios

  • Social platform limits: verify character and line counts before posting
  • Titles/Excerpts/SEO: keep titles and summaries short to avoid SERP truncation
  • App store/submission forms: validate description and keyword length to avoid rejections
  • Commit messages/PR descriptions: constrain characters/paragraphs to improve review readability
  • Subtitles/Voiceover scripts: use reading/speaking time to estimate final runtime
  • Blogs/Marketing: review top words and lexical diversity to optimize keyword density
  • Papers/Reports: adjust tone and length using average sentence length and complexity
  • Translation & localization: compare lengths across languages to prevent UI overflow

🎛️ Metrics & Counting Rules

  • Estimated from the primary language’s average reading speed; for reference only
  • Estimated with a typical speaking pace (about 130–150 wpm)
  • Detects the primary language by character ratios; mixed text shows overall proportions only
  • Counts top words and their share; for CJK languages without spaces, prefer the ‘Characters’ view
  • Counts character occurrences and ratios; suitable for languages without clear word boundaries (e.g., CJK)
  • Rates difficulty from sentence length, word length, and lexical diversity; an approximation

🧭 Usage Advice

  • Social posts: watch the character count and line breaks to stay within platform limits
  • Long-form writing: review paragraphs and average sentence length to polish rhythm and readability
  • SEO/marketing: inspect top words and lexical diversity to avoid keyword stuffing
  • Translation review: compare word or character frequency to catch semantic differences
  • Academic/reporting: use complexity and lexical diversity to gauge the level of formality

⚠️ Limitations & Compatibility

  • Word frequency works best for languages with clear word boundaries; for languages without explicit boundaries (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, Korean), prefer the "Characters" tab
  • Large inputs are processed progressively, so the first load or tab switch can take a moment
  • Mixed-language text returns combined metrics only; reading time per language isn’t available

🔒 Privacy & Security

  • All processing happens in your browser; data never leaves your device

❓ FAQ

Which languages are supported?

Most major languages are covered, including CJK, Latin, and Arabic scripts; mixed content is marked as "Mixed Text"

How are reading and speaking times calculated?

We estimate using average speeds for the detected primary language; treat the numbers as guidance, because actual speeds vary

Why is word frequency unavailable sometimes?

Some languages lack spaces or have ambiguous segmentation, so we suggest the character frequency view instead

What if processing long text feels slow?

Split the content into sections, or wait for the progressive analysis to finish—statistics refresh automatically afterwards

How do I export or share the results?

Use the copy button next to each metric, or capture a screenshot before pasting into your document
