Redaction Tools & Options

Four tools: Select (move/resize), Rectangle, Brush, and Eraser. Eraser only removes brush strokes, not rectangles.
Select a region first to adjust effect; use a solid block for stronger privacy, while mosaic/blur are visual weakening effects.
Auto-sync only when all images have identical dimensions; auto-disabled otherwise
Output format: PNG/JPEG/WebP. HEIC/HEIF input only; JPEG fills white; quality applies to JPEG/WebP.

Usage Advice

Shortcuts: Ctrl/⌘+Z undo, Ctrl/⌘+Y redo, Del delete
Scroll to zoom, right-click drag to pan (macOS: Ctrl+click)
Use solid blocks for maximum privacy
Mosaic/blur may theoretically be reversed by AI
Process large images or batches in smaller groups
Download requires at least one redaction area, so an untouched original is not exported by mistake.
When some images are still untouched, download only redacted images or cancel and keep editing.

Limitations & Compatibility

Canvas safety limits include a 32,767 px side cap, iOS Safari area caps, and browser decoding/encoding limits.
Very large images may fail to export; resize first or split large sets into smaller groups.
JPEG doesn't support transparency; fills with white
HEIC/AVIF decoding depends on browser support
Undo history limited to 50 steps per image
Manual tool only: no OCR, AI auto-detection, face detection, license plate detection, or text recognition.
This tool covers visible pixels and does not remove EXIF metadata, GPS data, PDF/video content, or document metadata.

Privacy & Security

Image redaction runs in your browser. Source images, redaction regions, active image, apply-to-all state, edit history, ZIP preparation, and export results stay in page memory while this tool is open. Tool, effect, strength, color, brush size, output format, and quality settings may stay in browser storage; if WebDAV sync is enabled, those settings may sync according to your settings. Redaction regions, active image, apply-to-all state, and edit review state may also enter WebDAV state sync while present. Image files are not synced by default; they only enter WebDAV attachment sync when you explicitly enable attachment sync. Redacted PNG/JPEG/WebP files and ZIP exports are generated for download and are not stored as separate results. On shared devices, clear images, redaction regions, results, saved settings, and site data when needed.
