Common Scenarios

Individual pages

create a separate PDF for every source page.

Equal batches

divide handouts, scans, or reports into files with a fixed number of pages.

Custom packets

group selected sections into separate PDFs while leaving out pages you do not need.

Input & Output

Input: one local PDF file. Its page count is inspected after selection.
Modes: one file per page, one file per N pages, or custom page groups using ranges such as 1-3,5, -3, and 5-.
Output: one PDF when the plan has one group, or one ZIP containing multiple PDFs when it has several groups.

Usage Advice

Check output filenames, page counts, and page ranges in the preview before splitting.
Custom groups may skip pages, but a page cannot be repeated across groups.
Large PDFs or many outputs can use browser memory and temporary storage on your device. Reduce the selected pages or output groups if processing fails.

Limitations & Compatibility

This tool copies PDF pages into new files. It does not compress, edit, sign, OCR, or repair PDFs.
Interactive forms, bookmarks, attachments, annotations, metadata, and digital signatures may not be preserved.
Encrypted, password-protected, or damaged PDFs cannot be decrypted or repaired.

Privacy & Security

Processing runs in your browser. CrateX.app does not upload the source PDF or generated results. Large ZIP results may use temporary browser storage on your device. Temporary files are deleted when you clear or replace the result; any leftovers are cleaned up automatically later.
